Sustainability

what is it?

essentially, sustainability is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

which basically means, using resources without them being completely destroyed, degraded or used up so there are some left over for use by future generations.

why now?

we are at a tipping point.our use of global resources is at a record high (deforestation, over fishing, use of fossil fuels, plastic pollution) and we are reaching a point of irreversible damage to our beloved blue planet and our most vulnerable communities.
we all have a responsibility to be more sustainable and preserve the planet for futre generations (kids, grandkids, great-grandkids..)

our commitment

we wanna inspire and educate the next generation of leaders. we'd love our students to be more sustainable in their personal and professional lives after they leave us at Kingston. for us to do this, we're working on campaigns and different sustainability initiatives and taking a long hard look at ourselves and what we can be doing as an organisation.

we're also partnering up with our friends at KU to maximise the impact of both our work, building a more sustainable future for you, the rest of the university and the wider community (pretty cool huh?)

wanna get involved?

have a look around the rest of our sustainability pages and see what else we are doing, there's plenty of room for more students to support the work we are doing and we'd love to have you join us
