About us

Union of Kingston Students is a registered charity whose student members democratically lead the organisation, supported by a team of permanent staff who are responsible for the operation and management of the union. The student members are represented at all levels of decision making within the union and the university, supported by the union’s staff team. The elected student representatives sit on various boards and committees to represent the views of Kingston University students.

Student Opportunities Manager

Salary - £34,506 + Pension

We are seeking someone who will look to transform our student opportunities provision. Whilst our current offer is good, we want to be excellent and we are looking for someone who is passionate about leading this change. You will be responsible for leading a staff team who is responsible for sports, societies, volunteering, skills development, sustainability and our work on enterprise development. The role will be key in supporting and developing our four student officers within all areas of student opportunities and will be vital to driving our new strategy. We are looking for an inspiring and innovative individual, who has a proven ability to build partnerships and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders. We are looking for someone who is passionate about developing exciting and transformative activities for our membership, communities that all of our students can feel part of and ensure that we are breaking down barriers for our students to participate in.

We are not looking for the most experienced person but some that understands about working within a fast paced, dynamic and exciting organization and understands what a vibrant and exciting student experience is for Kingston Students. We expect someone with excellent knowledge of themes and issues within Higher Education and students’ unions and has the ability to coach and support significant groups of volunteers, staff and student officers to achieve success.

Business Development Manager

Salary - £34,506 + Pension

We are seeking someone who will look to significantly change the way we generate additional income for the union. We are overly reliant on our university as one source of income and we are looking for someone who has the skills and knowledge to develop new and innovative revenue streams. This is a brand new role recently created and you will be responsible for leading a staff team who is responsible for all income generation activities such as sales and events, the way we communicate with our key stakeholders to ensure we are relevant and our brand new research and insight work to ensure we are always on trend across all areas of student life.

The role will be key in supporting and developing our four student officers within all areas of business development and will be vital to driving our new strategy. We are looking for an inspiring and innovative individual, who has a proven ability to build partnerships and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders. We are looking for someone with a sharp commercial eye who understands how to develop new and existing income streams, as well as someone who understands the challenging and exciting nature of a student led organization.

 Communications Coordinator

Salary - £23,305 + Pension

We are looking for someone to build upon the work done to improve the way we communicate with our members, as well as developing a clear brand and image that showcases the union and what we stand for.

As Communications Coordinator, you will be responsible coordinating all of the Union’s activity via our website, social media and other communication channels. You will also be responsible for ensuring the union presents itself consistently and with clear messaging, as well as providing a platform for our wide range of student activities and opportunities. We are looking for an individual who has an ability to understand the importance of how we clearly convey the what we do, as well as being credible to provide clear advice and guidance to students on how best to showcase their work.  The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong attention to detail, a creative flair and someone with a good eye for design and someone who understands how to manage multiple projects effectively.

We aren’t looking for someone with years of experience but we are looking for understanding of how to work in a fast paced, dynamic organisation and understands what makes a vibrant and exciting student experience for Kingston Students. The Communications Coordinator will have an excellent knowledge of current themes and issues within Higher Education and students’ unions and has the ability to proactively support sabbatical officers and students to develop the positive image of UKS.
