Our Impact On The Environment

As the Union of Kingston Students, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our impact on the environment. With our only office currently located on Penrhyn Road within the main University building, we do not hold any separate utilities or waste contracts outside of the University. We proactively work with the University to encourage them, and our staff and students to reduce their impact that we have on the environment. These are achieved through collaborative work and joint working groups. The Union is a member of the following working groups where we engage and help shape Kingston University services:

  • Waste Management Working Group
  • Kingston University Services Company (KUSCO)
  • Catering Group
  • Transport Implimentation Group
  • KU Bus Users Group

The following report highlights the Union's impact on the enviroment, and actions and opportunities we take to reduce our impact - Our Impact on the enviroment (Feb 2018)

Kingston University's vision and strategy is called Led by Learning and summarises that "at the heart of what we do" is "respect for individuals, the community and the environment". Three of the University's objectives (2.6, 3.2, 3.7) are directly associated with sustainability. The Union of Kingston Student supports and engages students in helping the university meet its strategic objectives by working towards reducing its environmental impact.
