Vanessa Harrison

Peer Support Officer

Hello there! I’m Vanessa, a 2nd year student midwife and my role within the society is supporting you in this exciting journey of becoming a midwife. After moving here from a different country, I totally appreciate how tough this course can get especially if you’re a bit far from home so please feel free to reach out and I would love to help in any way that I can!

I was placed at St. George’s for my first year and will be continuing onto Kingston Hospital for my 2nd and 3rd years. I love sharing ideas that have truly helped me throughout my first year so far as a student midwife in terms of studying, meal planning, and placement.

I originally wanted to become a nurse but quickly realised that childbirth had a really big pull on my heart so I became a doula and childbirth educator to get more experience in the field before diving into the wonderful world of midwifery!

Little fun facts about me : ) With Vancouver, Canada being my home country, you can imagine how much I love the outdoors! In my spare time, I would love going on hikes, paddle boarding, kayaking, and camping in the summer and in the winter I would love snowboarding and heading up to Whistler for a nice snowy getaway in the mountains! Since I’ve been here, I have loved adventuring through Richmond Park! There’s always so much to see and it’s such a wonderful place to escape the city life and spend time in nature! (And it’s just a short walk away from the Kingston Hill campus!) I can’t wait to meet you all and I look forward to sharing in this beautiful journey with you!
