In October, despite the COVID-19 situation and restrictions, KCSOC has still been in full force, offering our events to students and staff alike. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’›

After we kicked off the year with our Welcome event in September, we introduced free virtual yoga sessions with a qualified yoga teacher at the beginning of October.

There were a total of 3 virtual yoga sessions, with the first one on 2nd October and the other two sessions on 16th October and 23rd October. We were joined by some of our members and other KU students. Everyone loved them and absolutely loved the yoga teacher, Sophie, who provided great, fun sessions!

Other than the newly-introduced virtual yoga sessions, we carried on with our regular KCSOC events (but virtually!) where we have interactive talks and discussions on ancient spiritual wisdom and group mantra meditation sessions! We introduced a new name for these sessions, calling them 'Thoughtful Fridays!' - the first 'Thoughtful Fridays' this year was held on 9th October, where we were joined by our members. We started off reading from the book 'Chant & Be Happy', which contains exclusive interviews with George Harrison from the Beatles on how mantra meditation changed his life positively. We had great discussions and ended off with a group mantra meditation session, which everyone always looks forward to and feels really helps them in their lives as students.

Our next 'Thoughtful Fridays' in October was on 30th October, where we also had our very special guest speaker, Jai Nitai dasa (the Temple President of ISKCON-London), join us!! Jai Nitai dasa led us in a very interactive discussion and Q&A whilst we carried on reading from the 'Chant & Be Happy' book, and students loved the whole session. We ended with a group mantra meditation session - this was also loved by all, especially as some students felt like it helps them with the stress of coursework deadlines. This session with our special guest speaker was only the first of many more, and our members loved it so much that they're looking forward to more in the coming weeks!! ๐Ÿ’›

Finally, on 14th October, the first virtual KCSOC flagship of the year was held - this was an event with hundreds of students from KCSOCs in unis all around the country!! The event was titled 'Thriving in Chaos: Maximising Your Life and Uplifting Others' with special guest speaker, His Holiness Devamrita Swami (educator, author, monk in the Krishna bhakti tradition and former Yale graduate). This event included a talk from His Holiness Devamrita Swami on dealing with the current world situation and how to uplift our lives as students, especially spiritually! The event ended with a Q&A session with His Holiness Devamrita Swami, and many interesting questions were asked and answered. Some of our own Kingston KCSOC members were also in attendance. It was a great event, which students all loved and found really useful!

We've also been regularly uploading inspiring spiritual quotes on our social media! (Instagram & Facebook)

Overall, it was a great October for us, with a variety of events still happening virtually! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’›
