if you’re returning to KU this year, then you’ll know (much like the rest of the world) we’ve been working digitally since march. if you’re new to KU, then hey! we’re your union, and this is our new normal for a little bit, as we’ll be continuing to run digitally until further notice.
not to brag, but we’ve got pretty good at it. we’ve moved all our services online, which means for new academic year you’re getting the same stuff you’d usually expect from us - representation, societies, communities, sports, advice, events and more - at the click of a mouse or tap of a screen.
we’re doing this because it’s what we feel is best to keep us all safe (alongside following uni and government guidelines, obv.) If there’s any changes in how we run, we’ll let you know.
of course, being digital means some tweaks are made to our usual service. you can find out what those are below.
UKS office, staff and student officers
our staff team, including your student officers, are all working from home. this means our office, helpdesk and shop are closed. it’s still easy to contact us (more on that below), and you can still grab your merch on our website.
your time at KU and our role
our main goal as a Union will always be to have your back. we’re here to support you, your problems and change KU for the better. whatever issues you have (no matter how big or small), we’re here to listen and fight your corner. you can get in contact with our student officers or a member of our team and we’ll get the ball rolling.
societies
society events, socials and meet ups will all be held virtually for term one, so you won’t even have to change out of your pyjamas to make new friends and bond (score)
we’ve scrapped the membership fees for term one, so it's absolutely FREE to join as many societies as you want! you can register your interest for them here.
If you’ve got any Qs, pop an email to Courtney, our societies co-ordinator at societies@kingston.ac.uk
sports
we’re planning on running our competitive and recreational sports clubs and programs in person, with new guidance and rules in place.
we’ll be releasing a little bit more on how taster sessions will run as well as each individual sport throughout the next week. we’ll also be releasing further information on fees for sports memberships during term one - keep an eye out for those updates.
advice
our advice team can offer you free, independent and impartial academic advice whenever you need them. to book an appointment with our advisors, send a description of your case (with your name, K number and course) to support@kingston.ac.uk. our team will aim to get back to you within 5 working days (so make sure you email in plenty of time!)
contacting your union
not sure how to get in contact? we’ve got a handy list of our email and social channels here..
