at your Union, we're run by students and for students. that means that every academic year, you elect four student officers to call the shots and decide how we run to support you the best. this year, your officers have done loads - made society and sports at uni better, saved you MILLIONS of pounds during the year and campaigned for better faith facilities, to name a few.

 

but every year, the line-up of student officers changes.

as one student officer leaves another one joins, so lets say goodbye and hello....

today we say thank you and goodbye to your 2019/20 VP education officer, Muhammad Muneer. as self-crowned ‘king of the course reps’, Muhammad certainly achieved a lot over the last year…

 

- attended every single course rep training session

- updated the course rep awards to course rep of the semester, and increased the incentives

- introduced bi-annual course rep catch ups at PR and KH

- introduced course rep newsletters to keep them up to date

- worked alongside uni on moving the current retake period earlier in the year (to July), consulting with students and representing their views

- worked with uni on projects such as academic mentoring

- arranged LinkedIn headshot sessions for course reps (postponed due to COVID)

 

its clear to see that Muhammad has made a mark on education at KU, especially through the course rep system. we wish you all the love and luck for the future, and we’ll miss seeing you zooming around the office on your scooter!

 

and a big welcome back to kamal!

if you recognise kamal, its because he's been in these shoes before - he was your education officer for 2018/19, but he's back for more!

 

kamal has been working quietly behind the scenes over the last month, and he's already changed lots - including introducing virtual weekly catch ups with course reps and drop in sessions with himself.
