Creation of a new role: Student Director

This motion was discussed by the Trustee Board and will not be upheld for the following reasons:

The board accepts the responsibility of conflict resolution and if conflict arises that affects work of officers, this will be dealt with by the Trustee Board as they deem appropriate

The Board is seeking in the course of next year to make sure these things are not long term impediments and is already taking steps with regard to officer remits

The Board is committed to a review at the end of the third year of the current constitutional arrangements and proposals either to continue or to change will be presented to students at the AGM in 2019 for consideration, as the third year of the current structure ends in June 2018.

Plans are currently underway for the formation of an elected Student Council to help with fair and democratic union decision making and officer accountability. The Student Council is being designed to provide as much representative breadth for students as possible, and will serve the same purpose as the Student Director as outlined in the original motion whilst providing fair and balanced representation for all students at Kingston.
