Description

Mauritius is a tiny island located in the Indian ocean, and it is considered to be part of Africa. Like many countries in the Indian ocean, Mauritius was a British colony, however we gained our independence on the 12th of March 1968.

The flag of Mauritius consists of red, blue, yellow and green bands; Red represents the struggle for freedom and independence, Blue represents the Indian Ocean, in the middle of which Mauritius is situated, Yellow represents the new light of independence and hope while Green represents the agriculture of Mauritius and its greenery throughout the 12 months of the year.
