Disabled & Mental Health Student Network

  • Groupsicon

This network is for all students who identify as Disabled* (physically and/or mentally).

This network is for students to meet each other; run campaigns, or just socialise with one another. The network will elect two Representatives who will attend the Union Meetings: one representative for physical disabilities and one representative for mental health disabilities.

Regular forums will be set up to aid communication between members.

In order to join this group, you must self-identify as Disabled. Membership in this group is anonymous.

You’re disabled under the Equality Act 2010 if you have a physical or mental impairment that has a ‘substantial’ ... negative effect on your ability to do normal daily activities.

  • ‘substantial’ is more than minor or trivial - eg it takes much longer than it usually would to complete a daily task like getting dressed
