As a sport, cheerleading consists of stunting (similar to acro gymnastics), tumbling gymnastics, jumps and dance. It is very athletic, and a good way to keep fit and participate in a fun sport! We are coed, so not just for girls.

 

ABOUT US

The Kingston Cougars Cheer Squad consists of three full teams. Our two competitive teams are Level 1 All Girls Blues and Level 3 Co-ed Golds. We also have Level 2 All Girl, Level 3 Coed & Level 3 All Girl group stunts. We are coached by a professional cheer coaches who also coach and train at one of the top All Star cheer teams in the UK. One of our coaches was an athlete and competed at worlds for the Team England's All Girl Level 5 team 2016/17 and won 1st place! She is also currently training in a programme at level 6.

If you are unsure about what we do as a sport, check out our videos of previous competitions on Youtube: Kingston Cheerleading Squad. As well as competitions, we show our sport at showcases throughout the year. We love to have fun at the KUSU Sport events; particularly at the monthly Cougar Chaos! We often have joint socials with other sports teams at the university, and hold our own events for fundraising. We also go on tour with Kingston Sport; last year, we visited Croatia and this year we are looking forward to going to Italy!

 

TRAINING

Training is held at Tiffins Boys School in Kingston (KT2 6RL), and times are:

Wednesday & Thursdays 6-8pm - Level 3 Co-ed Golds

Thursdays 8-10pm - Level 1 All Girl Blues.

RECREATIONAL TRAINING

We also take part in optional gymnastics sessions - these are not compulsory but good for anyone who is interested in gymnastics!
