Capoeira Is a Diverse Combination of martial arts, game, music, dance and acrobatics that was created sometime by the African slaves in Brazil sometime after the sixteenth Century.
When playing Capoeira, Participants form a circle(roda) and take turns playing traditional African Instruments (such as the Berimbau), singing, or sparring in pairs in the centre of the circle.
Capoeristas believe that the Roda – the place where Capoeira is played symbolises the world and when inside that circle everyone is equal – all you have is your mind body and soul!

The most awarded capoeira school in the UK received another recognition by Kingston Council earlier this year. One of the school’s capoeiristas, Anna Barker, was named Sport Achiever of the Year 2019 for her exceptional dedication and commitment to the sport and community.
This is a great reflection to work of QMC leader, Contra Mestre Marcus Cabeça, a significant figure in the local community and amongst capoeira community. He and his school were awarded Eileen Gray Trophy in 2010 and 2015 for being a great inspiration to others. As a coach of Capoeira, he was awarded Coach of the Year 2011. During London Sports Awards (sponsored by Gillette) he was appointed amongst Top 10 Sports Coaches in 2014. The club is recognized also all over the UK, in 2017 UK Coaching he was nominated amongst Top 3 UK Coach Intervention and his student nominated among the Top 3 UK Young Coaches of the Year. QMC was also chosen as Club of the Year 2018 by the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames Sports Awards.
