V.A.S.T. has had another fantastic series of events during the month of November. Not only have we managed to reach 140 members, but in addition to our regular four core events each week, not including our ongoing Dungeons and Dragons campaigns, we arranged for some new different events to take place too.
On the 26th, we did our first cinema trip to see the premier of the new anime film Promare. Those who went said that had a great time and would love to go again. With Star Wars: the Rise of Skywalker coming out soon in December, this would be a great opportunity to do!
The very next day after the premier event on the 27th, V.A.S.T. held its biggest video games tournament yet with “The V.A.S.T. and the Furious: A Super Smash Bros tournament”! The first time we held such a large-scale tournament, turnout and enthusiasm was great, with all participants competing for some custom medals and a trophy we had ordered. The tournament matches were recorded with enthusiastic commentary by committee members and will be edited and uploaded to YouTube later. Commentary also helped to direct attention towards our ongoing healthy living “#GamersStayHydrated” campaign on our Twitter page (@VAST_SocietyKU). Members also showed great enthusiasm towards other tournaments that we are intending to hold further on in the year, which will be opened up to the entire student body at the university.
Members of V.A.S.T. also were able to continue to enjoy events during reading week. With a couple of our regular events being postponed for the week, an informal karaoke event was put together so that members who were still there could still have fun. Upon the ending of reading week, members who were unable to come said that they would like for it be done again so that they could come.
Finally, during a couple of Monday Dungeons and Dragons campaign sessions, for the first time ever, there was a campaign crossover session as two Dungeon Masters combined their respective campaign members to have two large adventures! The first one took place on the 11th, and then on the 18th as DMs joined forces to run sessions of 7 to 8 players.
