NOTICE OF ELECTION

 

As per the Education Act 1994 and the Union of Kingston Students’ Constitution and Bye-laws, notice is hereby given that elections shall be held for the following positions in the Union of Kingston Students:

*Sabbatical Officer Trustee roles will be confirmed and publicised following the result of the Union Referendum on 28th January 2019.

 

Key Dates for the Election

Nominations Open: 28th January at 10am

Nominations Close: 11th February at 1pm

Candidates Briefings: 12th February and 13th February

Campaigning Begins: 13th February at 4pm

Candidates Hustings: 18th February at 5pm

Voting Opens: 19th February 10am

Voting Closes: 21st February 3pm

Results Party: 22nd February 4pm

 

 

Nominations

Students will be able to nominate themselves via the Union’s website at www.kingstonstudents.net and completing an online Nomination Form. There are no paper forms in this election. Nomination forms will be available from 10am on Monday 28th January.

 

Eligibility

All registered students* may stand and vote in Union elections.

Candidates standing for election for a Sabbatical Officer position must be eligible to be a Trustee and Company Director in accordance with the relevant legislation.

Student Members who have already completed two terms of office as a Sabbatical Officer of the Union are not eligible to stand for election for a Sabbatical Officer.

It is an election candidate’s responsibility to ensure their eligibility to stand, including ensuring their course enrolment record is up to date, before submitting their nomination. The Union will verify all eligibility of candidates following receipt of nomination forms.

Student Members cannot stand for or hold more than one position at any one time except for the role of NUS National Conference Delegate.

 

*A registered student is each and every Student who has registered status according to the University and has not opted out by notifying Kingston University or the Union of their wish not to be a Student Member.

 

Deadline for Nominations

Nominations must be submitted online no later than 1pm on Monday 11th February. Nominations submitted after this date and time will not be considered under any circumstances.

 

Candidates’ Briefings

All candidates are required to attend one meeting with the Deputy Returning Officer, which will take place at the following times:

Tuesday 12th February at 2pm in PRJG2011 (Penrhyn Road campus)

Wednesday 13th February at 2.30pm in KHBS1006 (Kingston Hill campus)

Candidates who are unable to attend must contact the Deputy Returning Officer by email at representation@kingston.ac.uk before the meeting.
