and that’s a wrap! the academic impact awards are over for another year.

this year was different – we swapped our fancy formal affair with sit down meal for announcements on Instagram from our front rooms… it’s the first time we’ve ever held the awards virtually! but we could not let the current pandemic overshadow the brilliant work both staff and students have done this year, which is what pushed us to make sure we still brought you the Academic Impact Awards.

and we are so glad we did because this year's awards were great! (don't worry if you missed it, we saved it as a story on our insta - watch it here) we had so many amazing nominations that highlight the incredible work both course reps and staff do on the regs that are just inspiring. you can see a full list of everyone who won here.

we are also honoured to be able to dedicate one of our awards to a very special staff member, Emily Hughes, who sadly passed away in April. to recognise and honour the dedication and impact Emily had on students at KU, we have permanently renamed the Supporting the Student Voice Award to ‘The Emily Hughes Award: Supporting the Student Voice’. each year we will remember and celebrate the impact Emily had to countless students at KU by recognising other staff members who like Emily, work hard to ensure our students are supported. this is the legacy of support and care for students that Emily has left.

and finally, thank you to everyone who nominated someone, judged on our panel and worked on the awards behind the scenes - without you this would not have been possible!

we look forward to celebrating these awards with you next year – we will have to make up for missing this one!
